Traffic management vendor Packeteer has appointed its first territory manager for southern ANZ as part of its strategy to strengthen channel support.
New recruit Fiona Rooke will provide support resources to customers and partners across the southern and western Australian states and territories, as well as New Zealand. She will work in conjunction with northern counterpart Tony Edwards, who was appointed in March. Previously, country manager Bede Hackney looked after both roles.
Rooke's résumé includes stints with IBM and CSC where she focused on Packeteer equipment. Her most recent role was with IBM Australia as a network specialist.
Although this is Rooke's first foray into the sales arena, she has been working in the IT industry for the past 16 years.
"I needed a new challenge," she says. "It was a perfect fit from working with the product and then moving into the sales arena. One of the strongest things in a sales role is to understand your product."
Rooke wants to grow Packeteer's support network and partner presence to 2,000 people in each region.
"At this stage the grand plan is to get that support and to build and strengthen the relationship with our partners," she says.
