AppSense closes security gap

UK-based company AppSense is focusing on a new level of security threat and has designed a first intrusion prevention system (FIPS).

FIPS deals with endpoint security, filling the gap between the antivirus solution and the user.

Charles Sharland, CEO of AppSense, says the company is focusing on a specific market with specific customers in mind.

“We centre our attention around larger enterprises to provide solutions for, although our system also works well on a single-entity basis. Antivirus does not cover it all, and we come in at the next level.”

AppSense is planning to have someone on the ground in New Zealand, although not within the next 12 months. The company currently works with several government departments in New Zealand, and is represented here by Eagle Technologies and Gen-i.

Globally its customers include AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, Bank of America and several large government institutions.

“As a company we have had significant growth over the last years and we have some truly exciting technology coming out later. We sit quite nicely in the space we are currently in,” says Sharland.
