SAP and HP have announced a world-first software partnership in New Zealand, with HP acting as a horizontal reseller for mySAP All-in-One systems.
The joint venture will see HP bundling its hardware, infrastructure and services with the software. The two companies have enjoyed a long-term relationship and are now extending that relationship to bundle products.
Paul Cook, a director of HP business consulting, says the expansion gives HP access to a substantial client base. Although there are several resellers for SAP’s products, HP is the only horizontal one.
“We now have a strong offering in the market and have gained solid leverage skills. Our relationship with SAP is very good and we are working to increase our focus through channel partners.”
Ian Black, managing director of SAP New Zealand, says the agreement between the two is proof of SAP’s commitment to an indirect sales model and its focus on the SME market.
“This is an opportunity for resellers, HP being the main one, to deliver a product of increased value to the customer. We have two strong brands coming together and we’re hoping to squeeze out some of the competition.”
Alex Morcom, partner alliances manager with SAP, says the relationship opens up the channel to increase sales.
“Our relationship with HP is important to resellers, and we are hoping to make way into the mid-market with this relationship. SAP is bringing best-of-breed software to the table, while HP brings expertise and service.”
