SYFT picks up export award

New Zealand company SYFT Technologies has picked up the Export Deal of the Year award from Export NZ, for its $2 million deal with Australian Customs to provide the product Voice100.

Voice100 uses selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) tech-nology, used by Australian Customs to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in shipping containers. The technology makes it possible to determine if a container is safe to inspect or not.

Rebecca Bain, sales and marketing manager for SYFT, says the award was in recognition of that specific deal, but the technology developed by the company is not limited to the shipping industry.

“The technology allows the qualification and quantification in near real-time of VOCs ... and has applicability across a range of application areas from environmental pollution monitoring to breath-based diagnosis of disease.”

Bain is excited about the long-term prospects of the company. SYFT is currently planning to open an office in London and work with several European companies.

“We are of course delighted to be acknowledged by Export NZ for our contract with Australian Customs. This was a very significant deal for us and has opened up a new application space for the company and has allowed us to leverage that experience into a number of European Port opportunities.”New Zealand company SYFT Technologies has picked up the Export Deal of the Year award from Export NZ, for its $2 million deal with Australian Customs to provide the product Voice100.
