Blazing Bucks deemed big success
Microsoft’s Blazing Bucks reward programme for tier one and two partners attracted over 470 partners by the time it ended last month.
That was 200 more than had joined in May, a month after launch.
Partner and business solutions group manager David Guy says over 62 million ‘bucks’ were earned during the programme.
“It’s been ginormous in terms of an event; it’s blown us away,” says Guy.
Under the scheme and its equivalent for system builder partners, MegaBucks, resellers who bought licences for Microsoft products, including Office Standard and Professional, OneNote, InfoPath, Project, Visio, Windows XP, Windows server products and MSDN (Microsoft Developers Network) subscriptions from authorised distributors Ingram Micro and Express Data, earned bucks which could be redeemed for prizes.
A gala dinner and prize auction for system builder partners was held at the end of June, and tier one and two partners get their turn this week.
PB Technologies’ Dave Moynihan says the MegaBucks event was a positive gathering of Microsoft’s big OEM (original equipment manufacturer partners), and the programme was Microsoft’s way of saying thank you.
“We buy the products anyway so it’s really just an incentive.”
Moynihan says prizes won during the auction are shared among staff at Christmas.
