Kaon gains Centennial tools

Centennial Software, which specialises in security solutions, has appointed Kaon Technologies as its first New Zealand partner.

Kaon, which supplies network infrastructure and security management products and solutions, will support and distribute Centennial Software’s Discovery asset management tools and its DeviceWall solutions, which manage the flow of corporate data to removable media devices.

Kaon managing director Tony Krzyzewski says the deal with Centennial was done about two months ago after a New Zealand government department asked to buy DeviceWall.

“They called us and we evaluated the products and were very pleased with what they did,” Krzyzewski says.

The government purchase was not Kaon’s first sale of DeviceWall — that was made to a commercial firm three weeks after taking the products on.

Howard Waterson, Asia-Pacific regional manager for Centennial Software, says Kaon will adopt the Discovery tool by the end of 2006.

Krzyzewski says Discovery and DeviceWall will complement Kaon’s range. “We don’t have any overlaps with them. It fits in very neatly with our other security products.”

Waterson says his company is refocusing on the New Zealand market, having done some OEM partner-based business in the insurance industry here two years ago, and being kept busy in the South-East Asian market.

He says there are opportunities for Kaon to sell into New Zealand leasing companies, healthcare providers and organisations that need auditing tools, as well as councils and other government organisations.

“The focus seems to be on the government area where these sorts of processes are recognised and there’s more requirement to protect information.”
