Avocent looking for new recruits
During last week’s visit to local partners and customers, Avocent ANZ managing director Leanne Ramsay said the company may add a small number of specialist integrators to its partner base.
Ramsay says the network infrastructure vendor, which recently acquired out-of-band management firm Cyclades, currently has about four Avocent Certified Partners.
“We’re looking for maybe a handful more. These are people who have made a commitment to technical training, sales training, have evaluation of equipment and meet a revenue target.”
Ramsay says she held talks with telecommunications firm Ericsson and with Datacraft.
She says Avocent may also take on resellers who pick up on one-off opportunities or who can help it move into new markets.
“They’re valuable to get into the SMB space. They might want to procure certain products because a customer might want to buy them.”
She says the Cyclades acquisition provided products suitable for medium to enterprise-size businesses. “It gave us a much more scalable product range.”
Ramsay says she plans to visit New Zealand once a quarter and may hire a New Zealand-based sales and technical representative within six to 12 months.
