SMX offers big margins for mail management
Auckland-based email service provider SMX recently partnered with Cloudmark and Openwave Systems to provide a more cohesive service to organisations around the country.
The newly created company is currently looking for resellers and is offering good margins on its mail-management product.
“We have seven resellers at the moment — two in Wellington and five in Auckland. They provide leads and sales for us and we have set up two models, silver and gold, that will offer a bigger margin. We are looking for service-orientated resellers at the moment,” says managing director Jesse Ball.
SMX currently operates at a margin of 20% in the silver model, for companies providing five or more leads, and 30% for companies in the gold model who provide five or more sales.
Director of operations at SMX Thom Hooker says there is a global trend towards complete mail-management systems.
“Managed mail services is where it is going, unfortunately New Zealand is a few years behind when it comes to this. People can currently sign up with us and then forget about it. There is no inspection and work on the clients’ site.”
Ball says most resellers are used to moving boxes to get something in return, which is often why they prefer money upfront.
“This is why we’re moving away from the traditional model. Ideally, we can see resellers adding value to the product, such as reporting. Our final aim is to go internationally and then exit the market.”
