LG is taking on New Zealand's crowded but strong notebook market with the release of its new range.
The company has previously not had a notebook range in the country. IDC senior analyst Liam Gunson says it can be a tough market to break in to.
“The market is quite crowded at the moment, but it is also looking strong. I think it will be all about how they get into the mass retail market."
Gunson goes on to say that other brands have tried and failed, but that LG’s strong brand name might help in the process.
“The consumer notebook market is very hot at the moment. BenQ was in the same position some time ago, and it had to pull out of the market. LG has a strong brand name which will help break into the notebook space.”
The new range consists of four models based on Intel’s new core 2 duo technology (express dual series) as well as one low end model based on older cpu technology (express series).
The earlier version of this story incorrectly labelled LG as a Tawainese company.
