EMC and distributor Datastor were set to hold tier one and two launches for the Insignia line of hardware and software aimed at the SMB market, first unveiled in the US in February.
EMC Insignia products include CLARiiON AX150 disk arrays, Retrospect backup and recovery software, eRoom SMB edition collaboration software, and the SMB edition of data replication software RepliStor.
The Insignia range is supported by members of the EMC Velocity and EMC Velocity SMB partner programmes. About 50 principals were invited to the tier two launch in Auckland last week, while a group of senior salespeople were asked to the Wellington tier one event in early September.
EMC country manager Craig Stoddart says it has “come out of direct land”, and is offering companies the choice of becoming a tier one partner or working with Datastor.
“It depends on their relationship and how they want to work. Every company is different; some might already sell other brands with Datastor.”
EMC’s vice president of worldwide sales Steve Houck, who toured the Asia Pacific region to participate in the launches, says growth of Insignia overseas has bettered expectations.
“The AX150 being the basis of the solution has driven the sales,” Houck says.
