Sony has announced its Autumn 2006 notebook line, which includes a model
with a 17-inch, high-definition screen and a Blu-ray drive.
The Vaio AR20 series has a 17-inch screen with a resolution of 1,920-x-1,200
and an X-black coating for higher contrast output. The laptop features an Intel
Core 2 Duo T7200 processor -- which runs at 2GHz -- and 2GB of RAM.
The Blu-ray drive allows high-definition movies to be played back, as well as
access to large-capacity data discs. An HDMI connection allows connection to
HDTVs, for watching movies and previewing video when editing.
Sony has also debuted the FE30 series, which features a 15.4-inch wide-screen
display with dual lamp technology to increase brightness and contrast. It
offers a choice of Core 2 Duo and a large 200GB hard drive.
