Sonicwall Global Management System Version 4.0

Sonicwall Global Management System Version 4.0

Sonicwall has given the software that runs its security appliances a major overhaul. Version 4.0 of its Global Management System (GMS) includes extended management and unified threat management (UTM) controls, and a revamped user interface to deliver increased power, speed and simplicity, says Sonicwall.

The software allows IT administrators to manage thousands of remote Sonicwall security appliances and UTM services from a single, central location.

New features in GMS 4.0 include the ability to manage Sonicwall SSL-VPN appliances, as well as IPSec VPN firewalls, and to centrally control unified threat management signature updates on the network.

Other enhancements include simplified activation code entry, flexible new options for firmware upgrade scheduling and the ability to send audio alerts and notifications to PDAs and mobile phones in the event of system failures.

The redesigned graphical user interface meanwhile is said to make navigation simpler and more intuitive.

The new version also provides more detailed, centralised real-time monitoring, and provides new policy and compliance reporting, while its updated web-based reporting tool, ViewPoint 4.0, gives administrators instant insight into the performance and security of their network.
