Toshiba Tecra range and Portégé M500

Toshiba Tecra A8, Tecra M7 and Portege M500

The focus falls on reliability and security in three new Toshiba business notebooks. The company says the new Tecra A8, Tecra M7 and Portege M500 raise the benchmark in notebook reliability as they all feature its EasyGuard technology suite.

The suite is said to provide enhanced security, system protection and connectivity through proprietary design features, such as a patented, three-dimensional hard drive accelerometer and shock absorbent casing, a spill resistant keyboard and improved casework design.

All three models include standard EasyGuard features, such as a trusted platform module (TPM) for hardware encryption and biometric fingerprint reader.

The Tecra A8, a ruggedised 15.4-inch widescreen desktop-replacement model, meanwhile includes new EasyGuard features such as a thicker HDD casing, fewer screws for improved serviceability, an anti-bounce keyboard and an advanced hinge design.

The Portégé M500 is an ultra-portable notebook with a 12-inch widescreen designed for small business owners and mobile workers, while the Tecra M7 14-inch widescreen tablet PC aims to meet a need for advanced graphics in the architectural and design industries with the new NVIDIA Quadro graphics chipset and 128 MB of external DDR2 video memory.
