SNW fails to attract Kiwis

The annual storage networking world (SNW) was held in Sydney last week, with very few representatives from New Zealand present.

Rob Stirling, executive director of storage networking industry association (SNIA) ANZ, says the event performed above expectations.

“It has been a very good event so far; we had to pull in extra chairs to fit everyone into the seminars.”

Stirling raised the question whether such an event would be successful in New Zealand.

“We have thought about having a similar event in New Zealand, but it might prove too hard. It would be hard to duplicate the international speakers we get at this conference.”

Despite mainly being a vendor conference, Stirling is keen to see a larger channel presence.

“We are absolutely keen to attract more of the channel here, including resellers. In effect, this is a vendor show, but it would be valuable for resellers too.”

The SNW was held for its second time this year, and included several international speakers, demonstrations and networking. There was also a speed networking session where vendors could meet quickly.

SNW is 50 percent owned by SNIA and 50 percent by Computerworld.
