VoIP complexity boosts business for Gen-i

Increasingly sophisticated contact centres are driving greater IP telephony business for Gen-i.

Speaking shortly after the deployment of a Cisco-based VoIP platform at AMP Financial Services, Gen-i managing director Chris Quin said his company has long planned to be a major provider of this converged technology.

“Part of our aim is to have all our customers choose next generation services and VoIP is part of that,” he says. “The reason we acquired Gen-i and Computerland the built our capabilities in Cisco and Nortel is because we knew this is what customers would want. That’s been our strategy in terms of the last 5 years.”

Quin says financial institutions in particular are taking up the technology.

“Financial services, contact centres and banks are moving more and more into dealing with customers on line and on the phone. This technology has come of age.”

He says converged networks are becoming more common among firms of 100 seats and over.
