The RouStor N5200 combines NAS [network-attached storage] technology with routing capabilities to create an all-in-one device for handling both networking and network storage for the home or office.
Despite its compact dimensions — 230mm x 190mm x 230mm — the N5200 packs a lot of punch with the capacity for five 3.5" SATA hard disks for over 3TB of storage reckons Thecus. The unit includes an Intel Celeron M processor running at 600MHz and 256MB of DDR memory.
To keep data secure, the N5200 features multiple RAID modes and built-in RAID management features, such as auto rebuild, hot swap, hot spare and disk roaming.
The Nsync backup tool meanwhile enables the N5200 to automatically upload files to an external storage device via FTP at a designated time, which takes the guesswork out of data backup for SMBs, says Thecus.
An intuitive web-based interface and Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux compatibility are said to enable convenient file sharing between networked PCs and the N5200.
Connectivity options in the N5200 include three USB ports, a gigabit ethernet port, and a 4-port gigabit switch.
