The company that brought the Zip drive to market, Iomega, has reinvented itself with a range of new storage facilities aimed at the home user and small to medium businesses.
It has launched its Value Series hard drives for desktop, providing mass storage in a simple solution. The series is available in New Zealand in 320GB and 500GB capacities. The drives are preformatted for easy plug-and-play capabilities, and contain a standard 3.5-inch hard drive connected via a USB 2 cable. The hard drive is enclosed in a stylish case and has a transfer rate of up to 60 Mbits. The drive is powered externally, meaning the USB cable will not supply enough power to run it.
Iomega does not produce its hard drives. The company will source from recognised hard drive manufacturers according to market availability.
