Terra Soft says the company responsible for Yellow Dog Linux will launch its operating system (OS) for Sony’s upcoming Playstation 3.
Cesar Delgado, system administrator for Terra Soft, says the company worked closely with the E17 desktop team to develop the OS.
"It's not about eye candy and unnecessary special effects, it's about finding balance between a lean, uncluttered desktop and a personal environment that is both familiar and powerful. E17 is simply the most incredible thing I have ever used with any operating system."
Yellow Dog Linux v5.0 is built on the Fedora Core 5, and will be the company’s most advanced distribution to date.
Terra Soft worked with companies like the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, Sony and Fedora to offer a default suite with the OS. The default suite will include programs like OpenOffice 2.0.2, Firefox and Nautilus.
Installation is relatively straight forward. The company promises that the default suite will contain intuitive and self-guided means of exploring the OS.
Yellow Dog Linux v5.0 for the Playstation 3 will be made available through YDL.net enhanced accounts, through the Terra Soft on-line store, retailers, and public mirrors worldwide.
