Symantec's blueprint for dominance

Symantec is looking to offer its SME partners further rebates and new solutions to maintain its lead in the New Zealand market.

Symantec’s channels director for the Pacific region, David Blackman, says the company will further team up with its partners to provide bundles.

“We will be releasing some bundles in the next month or so with our partners. This will include the likes of partnering with Maxtor and bundling their product with our Backup Executive system recovery product. With our small business packs we will be bundling wireless routers as well.”

Symantec has chosen D-Link as its provider of the wireless routers.

Blackman says the company is trying to build solutions for small business resellers, making it easier for them to take the products to market.

“We also have a dealer registration programme, typically aimed at our gold and platinum partners,” says Blackman. “We are extending that to our silver, corporate-partner community. There are probably about a dozen resellers in New Zealand this applies to. This can give them an additional nine per cent rebate on top of whatever margin they make on the product.”

Symantec will release details of the new partner programme in the next few weeks.
