D-Link has found itself moving closer and closer towards the home entertainment and multimedia market, something that is clear in the company’s latest offering. The Medialounge DSM-320RD is a wireless media player with DVD and card reader designed to let the user wirelessly stream music, photos and videos from the PC to a television and stereo system.
Using 802.11g wireless technology the DSM-320RD streams media content at a maximum wireless signal rate of up to 54Mbps, as well as the ability to stream media content via Ethernet.
The DSM-320RD integrates seamlessly with your existing wired or wireless network and set-up is promised to be simple. Run the wireless network set-up wizard from Windows XP service pack 2 and transfer the wireless settings to the DSM-320RD using a USB flash drive.
The player will play an array of formats, and the card reader supports most popular memory cards. D-Linki has also partnered with on-line service providers to offer access to radio stations and music downloads. There is no information on how the service would work in New Zealand.
