Juniper Networks has recently appointed Albany-based distributor Datastor as its second distributor in New Zealand.
Sander Dales, channels director for Australia and New Zealand, says the model is built on what Juniper has done in Australia, with great success.
“It has been reflected by feedback from our reseller base. Our value added distributors have a high level of skill and resources on the product.”
Dave Rosenberg, sales and marketing manager at Datastor says the company has focused on the data security market and was just waiting for the right timing.
“This makes a bit of a statement about where we are going. We have said for a long time that we are making a strong play in the data security market, and Juniper's solutions around core routing and integrated threat management are areas we are keen to get involved in.”
Previously Ingram Micro was Juniper’s only other distributor in New Zealand.
We have certainly had core routing in our sights for a period of time. We have done an enormous amount of work to consolidate our vendors over the last 12 months, which has allowed us to put the right resources in,” says Rosenberg. “ [That] we can provide engineering support is an advantage around the Juniper range.”
Dales says Datastor will work as a value added distributor and should complement Juniper's relationship with Ingram Micro.
“We have done this to complement Ingram’s broad base capabilities with a value focused distributor. I believe it will be quite complementary to Ingram Micro. It is a model we have run in Australia very successfully.”
