VST says its appointment as Western Digital’s third authorised New Zealand distributor will offer resellers a more complete range of hard drives.
VST development manager Steven Senn says the new line-up will complement rather than compete with the Seagate drives it already provides.
“It’s in response to the market because our resellers want us to broaden our range a little bit more,” says Senn. “We don’t see it as competition with Seagate – everyone has their preference out there in reseller world.”
VST joins Western Digital’s other local distributors Ingram Micro and Synnex.
Senn says VST will be pushing Western Digital’s Raptor series 10,000 RPM SATA drives.
Western Digital's Australia/New Zealand business development manager Eric Chan says VST was appointed to broaden the vendor's customer reach.
"WD has been a strong player in the high capacity market as well as our Raid Edition Enterprise class of drives. Our mobile drives have also been growing well since we launched them and we are in our third generation of products now."
