Check Point targets centre with UTM

Check Point software is aiming for the middle tier of the market with its new line of unified threat management appliances.

With a core customer base of organisations with less than 1000 seats, regional vice president for Asia, Scott Ferguson, says the appliance is perfect for the New Zealand market.

“We think the product will go very well in New Zealand because of the average corporate size there.”

Check Point is courting the mid-tier market in New Zealand with what it says is an enterprise product at a lower cost and that is easily deployed.

“It is priced quite aggressively; we understand that the market is price sensitive,” says Ferguson. “We are very excited about the launch as it gives us incremental market space. The product is very much in line with what resellers and customers want in that marketplace.”

Check Point is aiming for volume shipments of the new product in March, and will host reseller training events in Australia and New Zealand through February.
