Citrix Systems has released version 4.5 of its Presentation Server. The company is preparing to launch the product in New Zealand in conjunction with Axon, one of its biggest partners here.
Dean Vaughan, Citrix’s Australia and New Zealand channel development manager, says the presentation server will hit the market in three different versions; advanced, enterprise and the new platinum edition.
“We have added capabilities to the different levels, such as application streaming and, in the case of our platinum edition, secure application access.”
Citrix’s new application streaming technology allows for programs that normally live on desktops to be streamed to the end users, much like viewing a video online. Rollbacks and updates to the programs happen automatically while the user is ‘streaming’ the program.
Vaughan says there are possibilities for resellers with the upgrade as well.
“There is a definite advantage here for renewals through subscriptions. There are quite a few significant reasons for users to upgrade. There are also possibilities in the managed services area with managing the technology at desktops and on the server side.”
Scott Green, CEO at Axon says the product is well suited to the company.
“The key thing from our point of view is that we are well respected in desktop management. We have a range of managed services, and application streaming virtualisation can drive the cost down and enhance usability for end users.”
Green says the company is still engaging with customers at an early point, and that the product itself is not yet ready.
“’We have various [solution] packaging to do, our customers don’t expect these solutions right away, even though we are actively engaging with the customers now.”
“We intend to assist our partners with training,” says Vaughan. “There will be a lot of web-based training and we are also running a partner acceleration course in Sydney. We expect around 300 delegates from Australia and New Zealand, and we will be covering food and accommodation for the New Zealand delegates.”
Green says he is pleased to see the level of commitment and investment in the partner enhancement programmes.
