Netscape's personalised home page beta

Netscape has released a beta version of its next-generation personalised home page, My.Netscape.

The initial beta will allow users to personalise the page with myriad content modules or widgets, Netscape says. The test site will not include advertisements.

Following the trend of other personalised sites like Netvibes, Pageflakes, GoogleIG, MyYahoo, the new site will include an "Add Content" layer designed to let users easily add just under 100 modules, including generic widgets and some from niche categories, to their personal sites, according to Netscape. The site will also include a generic RSS feed reader for users of unlisted RSS feeds, the company says.

Netscape began its push into the Web 2.0 market last year with the unveiling of a format similar to that of Digg.com, where users can vote on stories to determine where stories in specific categories appear on the Netscape home page.

The company is working to finish a migration feature that will allow users of older My.Netscape versions to import data such as stock portfolios and bookmark preferences.

At the top of the page, there is a link to a feedback form that will let users send suggestions and feedback directly to the My.Netscape development team.
