Two-day local Microsoft conference to debut

Microsoft will hold its inaugural New Zealand partner conference — Partner Connectionz — in Auckland on 19 and 20 September, including a black-tie awards dinner at the Auckland Museum.

Small and mid size and partner director John Bessey says although New Zealand partners could attend the equivalent conference in Australia, there is no joint ANZ event.

"We see huge benefits in holding a separate event in New Zealand rather than a joint Australia-New Zealand (ANZ) event as we have done in previous years," says Bessey.

"A number of our partners have given us feedback that a local event will help them with upskilling more of their staff rather than a selected few who can take the time to go over to Australia and participate in an ANZ conference."

A local event also means Microsoft can increase the amount of New Zealand-only content and improve the experience and key learnings from the conference, says Bessey.

"The content will involve international thinking about IT and its relevance to the New Zealand market. There will be market intelligence firms from overseas but their focus is on New Zealand."

Bessey says about 600 to 700 people are expected to attend the event.
