Philips SPC900NC Webcam

Philips SPC900NC Webcam

Philips, maker of all things electronic, has launched a new web camera that is said to be the highest quality consumer level webcam available in New Zealand.

The vaguely named SPC900NC uses image-processing technologies to create the same picture quality found in televisions, which produce video running at 90 frames a second. This is said to be the fastest for any webcam here. It has a built-in microphone, making for easy communication for those with distant relatives and friends.

An added feature of the SPC900NC is that it can operate as a home security device. Set to detect movement, it will send an email alert to the homeowner when activity is sensed in the room.

The webcam’s usability and quality has already made it popular overseas, particularly among amateur astronomers who have found it easily adaptable to telescopes for hi-definition astrophotography.

RRP: $199
