Ingram Micro has introduced a new divisional structure centred around four market segments – volume products, solution products, component products and consumer products.
The restructure follows analysis of the company's supply chain by its supply chain director Clement Mak.
Managing director Jay Miley says the company needs to provide expertise that meets the needs of the various market segments.
“Running a world-class distribution business involves a multitude of disciplines – ensuring logistics is managed efficiently, providing the right products and pricing and offering expert advice about the products we sell.”
The volume products division will be headed up by Vivienne Larsen, focusing on high-volume products such as notebooks, desktops, handhelds/PDAs, printers, peripherals and consumables.
Scott Cowen will lead the solution products division, focusing on providing expertise in the enterprise hardware market. This includes networking and security, servers, blades and data-centre equipment such as storage solutions.
The component products division will be led by Desmond Ling, and will focus on providing OEMs and component resellers with a totally integrated one-stop-shop. Ling will also lead the consumer products division.
