Bold possibilities touted in HP tour

HP showed off what the company thinks might be the future in consumer products this week, with its Mobile Innovations Tour 2007.

The tour is meant as a glimpse into the future, but product manager at HP’s mobile business group, Philip Devlin, says a lot of the showcased technologies are theories and not yet realised.

“We are using words like ‘maybe’ and ‘perhaps’ a lot here. This is not really about showing new technology, it is about showing you the possibilities.”

HP says it is currently working on several new technologies, like folding screens and inductive charging (where there is no need for cables to charge a device).

It also showed off transparent laptops and tablets, as well as foldable tablets and even an interactive coffee table, which is currently a working prototype called Misto.
