Partner fusion for rapid Oracle rollout

Oracle specialist, Fusion5, has notched up early successes across the Tasman with a new programme that aims to make the vendor’s applications more accessible to SMEs.

Wellington-based Fusion5, along with Auckland’s Asparona, have been selected as partners for Oracle’s new Accelerate programme, which is said to make it easer and faster for SMEs to deploy Oracle software.

Fusion5 has already won a major new customer in Australia through the programme that provides Oracle partners with rapid implementation tools for products like Oracle E-Business Suite, Peoplesoft Enterprise, JD Edwards Enterpriseone and Siebel.

Fusion5 managing director Rebecca Tohill says the programme is enabling the company to provide SMEs with their first ERP system.

“It has enabled us to speak to more customers we have not spoken to before,” she says.

“Most of the customers we target are in high growth markets. Many have nothing like this installed, but need something to take them to the next level of growth.”

Fusion5’s first customer to adopt Oracle Accelerate is Australian architectural farming systems supplier, Lidco, which opted for JD Edwards Enterpriseone.

Accelerate makes Oracle applications more affordable for SMEs as the vendor’s rapid implementation tools reduces roll-out time, says Tohill.

“It gives customers a head start in implementing the applications, but in less time and at a lower cost. A customer like Lidco wanted to go live as fast as possible, because a long implementation takes their focus away from their core business.”

The Accelerate programme provides basic industry-specific implementation templates to which partners add their own expertise to provide customers with a complete offering, says Oracle New Zealand applications manager Callum Ross.

“This programme is ideal for New Zealand, as it is focused on SMEs.”

Although this market is best reached through resellers, Oracle is not looking at adding any more partners to the programme just yet, says Ross.

“Our focus will be to work with Fusion5 and Aspirona to get industry-specific solutions together. We may then look if there are any gaps we are not covering in the market.”

Fusion5 signed its deal with Lidco through its Australian operation, which was set up in 2004. The company has offices in Wellington, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
