Renaissance plans to recruit a small number of industry-specialist resellers after taking on Datacover – an online backup and recovery service with insurance for lost data.
The distributor is seeking specialists in the accounting, legal, banking and insurance sectors, says Renaissance Brands general manager Mark Dasent.
“There’s probably not going to be a whole lot of resellers at all. We’re approaching this market by market.”
Datacover is owned by UK-based DRI Group, which has an international patent for the backup service and insurance combination. Datacover is underwritten by major insurance firm QBE.
Renaissance has distribution rights in Australia as well, but has not yet launched Datacover there.
Auckland-based data backup specialists Engini has worked on the back-end of the system, which runs on Attix5 technology.
Dasent says Engini’s work has made it simple for users to get a software licence and to get backup running quickly. The software tracks data and sends changes or additions to offsite hosting centres via the internet.
The service is available for PCs and servers and will be developed for cellphones and PDAs.
Locally, Renaissance is already partnering with Unisys and insurance company Marsh to take Datacover to market. -
