Inner-city base for Apple division

Renaissance plans to move its Apple division out of its headquarters in the Auckland suburb of Onehunga to the Viaduct in the central city, to establish a demonstration and events facility.

The harbourfront premises in St Laurence House will have three presentation rooms. The 18 existing sales and marketing staff from the division will move there later this month.

Managing director Paul Johnston says the shift was prompted by the need to free up space at Onehunga. As well, the Viaduct premises will also become a venue for Renaissance events.

He describes the premises as a level below Apple’s executive briefing centres.

“It will have all the latest gear. We can do product demos and run training courses and take VIPs [there]. It’s not to take the place of the executive briefing centres.”

The nearest Apple executive briefing centre is in Australia and local resellers and users are always welcome there, says Johnston.

Logistics and finance for Apple will still take place at Renaissance in Onehunga. Johnston will have offices in both the new and existing premises.

Johnston says five partner or customer groups have already booked to use the facility.
