Storagecraft hopes the New Zealand market will match the growth it has had in Australia, after signing Albany-based distributor Datastor.
The storage vendor had a bumper year across the Tasman. “The past 14 months have been exceptional for us, especially when you consider that when we started in Australia in April 2006 we had zero customers, zero partners and zero awareness for Storagecraft or Shadowprotect,” regional manager for Asia-Pacific, Greg Wyman, says. “Thanks mostly to our partners, we have now sold more than 3000 licences.”
Richard Giddey, Storagecraft’s sales manager for Asia Pacific says Datastor was chosen for its ability to add value and the products will complement the existing portfolio.
“I am confident that the channel relationships resulting from Datastor’s appointment will ensure optimised coverage throughout New Zealand,” says Giddey. “Our revenues are growing by more than 130 percent month over month this year. This has enabled us to establish a regional technical support centre, technical training accreditation classes and professional services for medium to large deployments.”
Wyman claims a key reason for the company’s success is that more and more customers and partners are becoming disillusioned with tape-based backup products.
“They understand tape is being relegated to an archival product, not a backup solution. Customers are now looking for storage solutions that are fast, easy, reliable and affordable and provide real-time data protection and recovery.”
Datastor sales manager Dave Rosenberg says the new product line gives resellers an opportunity to sell the products as a stand-alone solution or add them to existing solutions.
“Resellers can implement an integrated total solution that includes real-time protection and disaster recovery of Server 2003, SBS, Exchange and SQL servers. It is a stand-alone solution that does not rely on additional options, agents and add-ons.
“In the past 45 days we have trained more than 275 people on our technology and the benefits that real-time recovery delivers,” Wyman says. “We have now started providing professional services through our channel partners as we engage in larger, more complex deployments.”
Storagecraft recently launched its Australian Partner Engagement Programme and several of the components are currently available.
