International reseller deals in Denver delight Activiser

Spending a few days in Denver has won a local software developer its first overseas partners.

Auckland-based mobility software maker Activiser signed reseller agreements with two American and two British companies at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference this month.

Director Andrew Hunt says these will be the company’s first active partners abroad. “We now have active resellers overseas. We are really pleased with that.”

The conference was the ideal hunting ground for overseas representatives of the product, says Hunt. “You can just sit down at lunch, start talking with people and end up with someone who can sell for you. You have to be there to meet the people.”

One of Activiser’s new US partners, Seattle-based CRM-On-Target, will host the software and make it available to existing channels in 20 countries, says Hunt.

“It is all part of the software-plus-services idea we heard a lot about at the conference.”

The other US partner is based in Los Angeles and has already closed two deals with the product, says Hunt. “We had to install them as soon as we got back to Auckland.”

While the two US partnerships developed from contacts Hunt made at last year’s conference in Boston, the UK ones were harvested in Denver.

“We have just been going around the expo looking for partners.”

Finding partners for Activiser is not a challenge, as it is as good as any of the other software exhibited at the conference, says Hunt.

Meanwhile Hunt was also excited by Silverlight, Microsoft’s new platform for rich web-based applications, which was demonstrated at the event. “We will start writing code for Activiser in Silverlight immediately – it is just too good.”

But looking at Activiser’s success at the conference, Hunt questioned why New Zealand Trade and Enterprise was not in Denver promoting the local software industry, as it has done in previous years. “They have their Beachhead programme, why were they not there? This is Export Year – New Zealand should have had a significant presence at the conference.”
