Western Digital 250GB Passport

Consumer storage provider Western Digital (WD) has released the newest member of its Passport portable-drives family – a 250GB version. The quarter-terabyte drive comes in a handy size, with an enclosure containing a 2.5 inch hard disk drive.

“The rich, storage-hungry media content generated by 10 mega-pixel digital cameras and HD video camcorders makes the one-quarter terabyte WD Passport Drive a compelling solution,” says Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of WD’s branded products group. “WD Passport is a travel-friendly gadget for consumers who want to carry their entire digital portfolio with them.”

The 250GB capacity will suit professionals on the go, as well as photographers and movie lovers. The enclosure maxes out at 13 centimetres and it weighs in at about one tenth of a kilo.

WD Sync software allows consumers to take desktop content with them by simplifying the synchronisation of essential personal files and Microsoft Outlook data on a PC. Should owners misplace the drive, the data is protected with 128-bit encryption. Google software allows users to quickly locate files with the Google Desktop Search tool, manage photos with Picasa photo organiser software.

RRP: $330

Distributors: Ingram Micro, Synnex and VST

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
