Trend Micro launches into SaaS

Trend Micro has released SecureCloud, a software as a service security platform comprising three applications spanning mail reputation services, messaging hosted security and botnet identification.

It says it is enabling partners to provide and manage the full range of applications, either separately or as a combination of services, through a single web console - the Worry-Free Remote Manager. The remote manager can also be accessed by customers.

In future, functionality to manage a customer’s gateway and other services will be added, Trend says.

"While application and storage servers still require resident security, the end point now needs a thin security agent which can be achieved with in-the-cloud updates,” says Trend's ANZ enterprise director Michael May.

He says the focus of the technology is "unifying security applications from the edge to the end point.”
