Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router

Linksys has released its first gigabit wireless-N router, the Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link, also known by its catchier name – WRT350N.

The router includes an ultra-fast gigabit switch that brings technology previously found only in high-end business networks, to the home, says the Cisco-owned company.

Linksys claims that with throughput speeds of up to 1000 Mbps, gigabit switching lessens the usual limitations of transmitting between wired and wireless connections by removing the bottleneck caused by 10/100 ports.

Such wireless speeds allow users to watch high-definition video, stream digital audio, play games online, make VoIP calls and surf the internet at the same time without any significant effect on performance, Linksys says.

The WRT350N is said to provide up to four times the range and 12 times the throughput of standard wireless-G offerings when teamed with Linksys’ Wireless-N Notebook Adapter, Wireless-N Desktop Adapter or Wireless-N USB Network Adapter.

Meanwhile, with Storage Link any USB 2.0 storage device, such as an external USB hard drive, can become networked attached storage when plugged into the WRT350N.

RRP: $409.95

Distributors: Express Data and Ingram Micro
