New Auckland office for high-flying Oxygen

Oxygen Business Solutions is celebrating a successful year after its buyout by Australian-based services company UXC 20 months ago, along with a move to new Auckland premises.

“We’ve had a record year in 07,” says chief executive Mike Smith, adding that it has exceeded the revenue target it set when it was bought by UXC.

He says in the last year it has been chosen over some other companies to complete very large projects and has taken on several new clients.

Oxygen recently held an event for staff, partners and customers to celebrate its new office in the Auckland suburb of Greenlane. Smith says the premises is smaller but has a smarter layout and makes use of hotdesking.

UXC CEO Cris Nicolli attended the function, saying he was delighted with the way Oxygen had performed, as it didn’t know a lot about the company previously.

“It was a bit of a leap of faith,” Nicolli says.

Meanwhile, UXC’s IT services arm has increased its revenue by 41 percent to A$295 million for the year to June 30. Nicolli says major contract wins during the past year helped seal the result, including large government contracts in Australia with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Health and Ageing and Department of Defence.

UXC has this year acquired Western Australian-based communication solutions provider Icon Communications and Sydney-based corporate performance management software consultancy Agave Software.
