Second distributor for Commvault

Commvault’s local presence has been given a boost with VAD’s addition as a nationwide distributor.

VAD sales director Stuart Alexander says Commvault has a presence locally but not a strong one.

“Their global market share is huge so the challenge is to get them performing better in the market. VAD is very aware of the focus required in a busy local distribution market to represent our best of breed vendors in a clean ‘route to market’ model.”

VAD chose Commvault to complement its existing suite of high-end IBM hardware.

“Commvault has high-end products so it’s also about engaging the end user community. This is a compliment to our business locally,” says Alexander.

“An enterprise backup solution partner must address and service the fast pace of change in the backup market, as new recovery technologies provide alternatives to tape backup. VAD required a partner that can offer solutions to large, complex environments with a consolidated, robust backup solution that scales to meet expanding recovery and management needs.”

Simon Probert has been hired specifically by VAD to work on Commvault products as a consultant. The distribution agreement was launched this month.

Datastor meanwhile also distributes some Commvault software, but sales and marketing manager Dave Rosenberg says the company does not see VAD as a competitor as the two businesses operate in different fields.
