Adaptec 1225SA RAID Controller

Adaptec 1225SA RAID Controller

Adaptec has expanded its RAID controller family with a new two-port external SATA device for the PCI express interface.

The company claims its 1225SA controller provides a wide range of features designed specifically for SOHO networks that rely on external direct attached storage (DAS) for professional workstations and entry servers.

The 1225SA is compatible with external SATA (eSATA) disk drives and tape drives, installs in any available PCIe slot and offers two external SATA ports with speeds up to 3 gigabits per second.

The card allows storage capacity to be shared by multiple users, partitioned into different configurations

and leveraged to provide automatic backups of other devices on the network, says Adaptec.

It’s card is equipped with the Adaptec’s Storage Manager software that is said to provide ease of use and improved management and offers RAID levels 0, 1, JBOD and eSATA hot-swap compatibility. The 1225SA also enables users to easily move drives or volumes from one system to another through the integrated HostRAID technology.

RRP: $120

Distributors: Datastor and Ingram Micro
