Trans-Tasman deal signed for Russia’s Smartline

Australasian distributor Chillisoft has expanded its portfolio with a trans-Tasman agreement to distribute Russian-based Smartline’s endpoint security offering Devicelock.

Auckland-based managing director Geoff Cossey says Devicelock is a strong niche addition to his company’s security portfolio and would appeal to large organisations and users in the auditing field.

“There really aren’t a lot of products like this out there. Most security products focus on stopping external threats, Devicelock stops internal data leaks. This is important these days because an employee could easily copy file contents on to an 8GB storage system and then walk out the door.”

Devicelock is said to monitor and control access to and from external devices. Data leaks are stopped by denying access to peripheral ports and drives, when any employee or visitor attempts a network upload or download to a device without appropriate permission.

Cossey says Devicelock will be promoted through Chillisoft’s 600 channel partners in New Zealand and Australia.

“The response from partners has already been positive. We’re going to be targeting this at large partners because it is a niche product.”

Earlier this year Chillisoft secured the local distribution of Astaro firewall and UTM software.
