Sharp buys its own Hamilton dealership

Buying photocopier dealership Bay Business Centre (BBC) in Hamilton is not a move by Sharp to cut out resellers, according to the company.

Communications manager Anna Smith says Sharp still wants to retain its dealers and business resellers throughout the country.

“BBC in Hamilton was already a Sharp dealership and the opportunity arose to purchase the business. We have a direct presence through branches in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, but they have been around for a long time.”

Sharp will retain all of the staff at the BBC branch.

Smith says the company has no plans to buy any more dealerships at this stage.

“Our reseller relationships are very strong, so there is no need to go direct everywhere. We look forward to partnering with businesses in the Waikato through this acquisition.”

BBC will continue to run its other dealerships in Rotorua and Tauranga.
