Symantec is offering its registered and silver-level partners the chance to earn a five percent rebate on product sales that exceed an agreed revenue target.
The rebate is the centerpiece of the Aspire programme, which Symantec has introduced in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and India.
“The focus is on registered and silver [partners], which is kind of the sweet spot for small and medium businesses. Often the benefits go to the volume resellers, but there’s just as much need in that SME segment for the margin and additional profit,” says outgoing Asia Pacific and Japan vice president of channels John Donovan, who was still in the role when interviewed.
Partners have until the end of November to register and are then allocated an individual target quota of sales. For every eligible product sold above the quota by 28 March next year, the partner organisation gets five percent of the product’s net value (that is, the net fees that Symantec receives from its authorised distributors).
The programme is open to registered and silver partners, as well as resellers who enrol to become a member of the partner programme before the end of the promotion.
Donovan says the programme is also aimed at gathering more information about Symantec’s channel. “There’s a lot of partners who buy our products that aren’t even registered for the partner programme.”
Symantec plans to introduce the programme in other Asia Pacific countries in the next three to six months.
