Symantec plans to expand Vontu, the US-based data loss prevention products company it is buying for US$350 million (NZ$400 million), internationally. However, the company says it is too soon to say if this includes New Zealand.
Symantec announced earlier this month that it has signed an agreement to acquire Vontu, which to date has focussed mainly on the US market.
Symantec’s US-based corporate communications group manager Linda Smith Munyan says while Vontu may become available in more international markets, she could not confirm if this included New Zealand.
“Symantec’s acquisition of Vontu is subject to regulatory approvals and until the acquisition closes we cannot finalise many of the sales structure and go-to-market details. However, Symantec’s global sales force plans to build on the strong footprint that Vontu has in the US and extend that into international markets where Vontu doesn’t currently have a presence.”
She says more details about Symantec’s plans will be provided in the months after the acquisition closes.
