High definition videoconferencing vendor Lifesize is hoping to capture a bigger slice of the small and medium business market here, with the launch of its Lifesize Express product.
The system includes a high definition codec, camera and microphone (or audio conference phone) and wireless remote and costs about $9000 excluding GST according to its local distributor, Communications Partners. It has a small form factor and is plug and play.
“There’s almost no adoption of video communications within the small enterprise and some of them are global companies that need to communicate with remote employees, customers and staff,” says US-based CEO Craig Malloy.
Lifesize has also introduced ‘Team MP’ and ‘Conference’ systems aimed at the middle of the market. Each will join the current range distributed by Communications Partners, which has worked with Lifesize since January this year.
Managing director of Communications Partners, Rick Renner, says there is great potential to grow in the SME space here.
“Lifesize’s product are true high definition [products], built from the ground up. There has been huge interest from SMEs.”
Renner says Lifesize presents an alternative option for small and mid-size firms.
“[Other videoconferencing vendors] Tandberg and Polycom have been about 80 percent of the market and we’re having to compete with that as the new boys on the block.”
In Australia, Lifesize has added Westan to its distribution stable, which also includes Telstra, Broadreach Services and CoMerge.
