Datacraft buy spurs centre of excellence move

New Zealand is to become a regional centre of excellence for local security consultancy firm Security-Assesment.com, following its acquisition by Datacraft.

The Singapore-based services company, which has offices in Wellington and Auckland, bought Security-Assesment.com for $5 million in a bid to boost its security services in the Asia Pacific region.

Securus Global (formally Security-Assement.com Australia/Asia Pacific) was not sold.

According to Security-Assesment.com CEO Peter Benson, the company now plans to make New Zealand the centre of excellence for the Asia Pacific region.

“We’re definitely looking to expand in the region after some consolidation. Opportunities already exist in Singapore and Hong Kong and there is a real demand for our type of services.”

Datacraft managing director Robin Hartendorp confirmed that the centre of excellence will be based locally.

“We’re looking at two implementation models for the centre.”

Hartendorp says the acquisition will increase Datacraft’s presence in what is a niche area for the company.

“We needed people who had the expertise. Security-Assesment.com will retain its own general manager and business unit.”

Benson says Datacraft will open doors for the company.

“It will make us more attractive to some companies, but we intend to keep our brand and independence. This is a fantastic opportunity and we are planning to take on more staff locally.”

Security-Assesment.com operates an office in Auckland.
