Radford takes on Sybase RFID product

Sybase is set to extend the market for its RFID software infrastructure after signing a partnership with Tauranga-based Radford Software, whose key audience is the horticultural post-harvest sector.

Radford will provide Sybase’s RFID Anywhere product in combination with the inventory, supply chain management and grower payment systems it already supplies. RFID Anywhere is designed for the creation of intelligent sensor networks.

Radford Software managing director Phil Radford says the partnership marks his company’s first foray into RFID, being driven by customer demand.

“Right now RFID is very much in its infancy in the New Zealand post-harvest industry,” he says. “We see a great deal of potential however, as do our customers.”

Sybase’s Australia/New Zealand channels director Steve Dolan says both companies recognised a strong opportunity to integrate RFID into areas such as inventory, logistics and the supply chain.

Earlier this year Sybase reviewed its key technologies and channels, to strengthen its business continuity, business intelligence and mobility offerings. It has also been in discussions with large integrators.
