AOC adds Ingram for retail push

Television and monitor vendor AOC has added Ingram Micro as a New Zealand distributor to gain a greater presence in the retail channel.

Australia/New Zealand sales manager Debra Chien says Ingram Micro's focus will differ from the other distributor Morning Star, which has been successful among OEM and traditional resellers.

"We'll deal with Ingram Micro because they're very strong in the retail channel," she says.

As well as the distributor appointment last month, AOC has also appointed an Auckland-based sales manager to work with Ingram Micro among retailers.

Ingram's consumer division head Desmond Ling says it took on the agency to meet increasing partner demand for AV products.

"It's us broadening our offerings to what the channel needs," he says. "It's a unique opportunity to target categories in IT and consumer electronics with a brand that's proven in that segment."

Morning Star group product manager Victor Ho referred Reseller News to Chien for comment, as he said his company had not heard anything official from AOC about Ingram Micro's appointment.
