Netgear says it is considering options for stronger local representation, following the departure of region manager James Caldwell last month.
Neither Caldwell nor Netgear’s Australian country manager Ryan Parker would comment on the reason for the departure, however Caldwell says he plans to work on his own business.
Parker says Netgear’s name has not been as strong here as it has been across the Tasman, and the company wants to boost its local image.
“We’re not stepping out of the New Zealand market, that’s for sure. We’re looking at ways we can be more effective over there.”
Parker said he would meet with its three New Zealand distributors Ingram Micro, Softprint and Cellnet in February to get their feedback on the best way forward.
Caldwell was the Netgear product manager at distributor Tech Pacific (now Ingram Micro) prior to beginning with the vendor in March 2003.
He is a director of two registered businesses – hardware, software and consumables provider Expressnet New Zealand and Vendor assist.
