Banfield takes on tech PR

Former Reseller News editor Justine Banfield has turned her hand to technology public relations.

Banfield, who edited the publication from 2001 to 2004, has joined Auckland-based Professional Public Relations as account director for its IT and business clients.

She will represent a number of technology vendors including EMC, Oracle, Avaya, Agile New Zealand and Dell.

Banfield says she brings a solid understanding of the varying needs of end-users, vendors and the channel to the role.

“The New Zealand market is unique in many ways, which presents considerable challenges for those in the sector – whether they represent a multinational or are part of a Kiwi firm – as they all look to add value and continuously grow their business while meeting ever-changing market demands.”

Key issues facing the local market according to Banfield include further consolidation, ever-tightening margins, global economic downturn, the ongoing skills shortage, along with the need to add more value as users move increasingly towards a services-driven environment.

Prior to joining the company, Banfield was communications and media manager for the Manukau Institute of Technology.
